How Betterment achieved hypergrowth with a remote-inclusive culture

With a suite of intuitive financial products, Betterment pioneered a smarter way for regular people to invest and grow their wealth like experts. They’ve applied the same principles toward investing in their workforce. Thanks to generous benefits – including JOON – that promote work-life balance and wellbeing, Betterment is recognized as a top employer for talented individuals who care about personal, professional, and financial growth.
According to Laura Craig, HR Business Partner, Betterment is a “remote-inclusive” culture that has used JOON to facilitate more benefits flexibility for their workforce.
“When we did an analysis of our previous offerings and found such a small percentage of the company was taking advantage and utilizing them, of course we wanted to find something and offer employees something that was more appealing,” Craig says. Employee engagement survey results last year showed lagging scores for questions related to work-life balance. “That was definitely a catalyst,” she explains.
Betterment chose JOON due to better automation, flexibility, pricing, and customer service.
“We’ve actually just received our results…this year, work-life balance was one of our top three scoring factors, which is huge,” Craig says.
